I thought my light side would come out more in Curaçao because the sun always shines here. But you take yourself with you wherever you go.  The island also has a dark and light side. It’s whimsical, like the trees winding across the ground greening and the sun can shine so brightly that it hurts. Maybe, precisely because of that bright light, Curaçao wants to hide everything behind dancing, partying, laughing. Maybe, precisely because of that bright light, Curaçao wants to hide everything behind dancing, partying, laughing. I want to find out what’s behind that. I think that’s why I ended up in Curaçao and stayed.

When painting ….

you are thrown before the lions. You can’t hide anything, you come into contact with your soul. That’s why I started painting. People are often bank for their heavier sides, but they also have to be worked out.

Art …

could mean releasing energy. There are blokcades in the human being and the greater the blockage, the more intense the urge to solve it. For many people, I think, art should be a piece of ephemeral bliss. The translation of that bliss is called technique and style. Still, I can’t quite get out of it. What about paintings that are heavy and shocking?
