Ria Houwen – Inspired by Sea and Light

The theme of this series is ‘Water’, in this particular case, the sea, the Caribbean sea.

The technique used by Ria is oil paint and encaustic. The latter is a technique of heated beeswax in which shapes and structure are applied. By using this technique, she tried to capture every movement of the sea. Which is almost impossible.

The sea speaks its own language. Constantly in motion, dancing. The colors, the depth, sparkles, lovely, lively and at times devastating. Just like mankind.
